Charles W. Muse, Jr., is the fifth of five children; the only son of Charlie and Doretha A. Muse. Charles was educated in the St. Helena public school system having graduated from Helena High School. In the 10th grade he decided to be a mortician and continued his education in Houston, TX at Commonwealth College of Science studying Mortuary Science. Charles graduated in 1964. He served in an apprenticeship as a Funeral Director under C. H. Miller, and as an Embalmer under Clyde Yancy at the Miller Funeral Home in Clinton, LA. In 1968, he received a License for the State of Louisiana under the direction of these men. Later he continued his education and in 2005, became a certified Funeral Service Practitioner.
Charles is a member of Embalmers Association of Baton Rouge, LA and of Funeral Director and Mortician Association.
Charles is a member of Greater Turner Chapel AME Church in Greensburg, LA. He serves as the President of the Trustee Board, President of the Sons of Allen, the Finance Committee and on the Cemetery Board.
January 15, 1968, Charles purchased Friendly Service Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA and added MJR in 1998. In January 2007, he opened MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home in Greensburg, LA. God has blessed Charles, with His guardian angels watching over him, to become a successful minority owned mortuary.
