Willie Mae T. Reams, home. Born December 5, 1933, Willie Mae was the fourth child to the union of the late William and Evelyn Thomas. Willie Mae was baptized and received Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Visitation Friday, December 6, 2013, from 5 pm until 7 pm at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA.
Religious service Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 am at The Greater St. Mark Baptist Church in Walker , La. , pastored by Edgar L. Thomas. Interment at St. Mark Church Cemetery.
She attended school in both Livingston and East Baton Rouge Parishes. Having a passion for learning and achievement, she continued her postsecondary education at Southern University, earning a Bachelor of Art Degree in Elementary Education, and later a Master of Art Degree in Elementary Education. For over thirty years, until retirement, she worked as a teacher in the Livingston Parish school system including the former West Livingston High, Walker Upper Elementary and Levi Milton Elementary schools .
Through her career as an educator, and various church and community initiatives, she was afforded the opportunity to help and influence people. Until her death, she served as the financial secretary of the Greater St. Mark Baptist Church. She was one of the co-founder of Club Outreach of Walker, she was the co-owner and bookkeeper for the former Reams Bus Line, Inc. and served as financial secretary.
She survived by three daughters Saundra (John Earl) Brumfield and Shirley (Robert Earl) Brumfield both of Walker , LA , and Terri Turner of Plano , TX . Six grandchildren Tracey Muhammad, Toby Brumfield, Tabitha Ellis, Jason ("Big Red") Brumfield, Robbie Brumfield, and Jonathan Turner; nine great-grandchildren, three God children, four step sons, and two step daughters, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
