Violester Montgomery "Hick" Vance

Violester “Hick” Montgomery Vance entered into eternal rest at the age of 88 in Jefferson, LA on Monday, October 11, 2023. Hick was born in Greensburg, LA and resided in New Orleans and Jefferson, LA for over 50 years. Hick was preceded in death by her parents Hannah F. Berry and Martin Montgomery; her first husband Leamon “Man” Williams; two brothers, Santee Berry, John Berry, Jr.; three sisters, Viola “May” Hitchens, Johnnie Mae Fields, and Irma Dell Holiday, Dula Rogers, Husband, Robert Exl Vance, Daughter Hannah Williams, and step grandchild Bobby Stevens, Jr. She is survived by six children: Ada Clark, Patricia Campbell, Janice Williams all of New Orleans, LA; Lenard Williams, Sherwood Pernell Williams (Diane) Ponchatoula, LA, and Leamon Martin Williams, (Courtney) her grandson she raised from an infant. Two stepchildren Theo Vance of Porter, TX, and Robert “Pappy” Vance (Cynthia) of Baton Rouge, LA. One brother, Charles Berry (Elaine) of Greensburg, LA, and one Sister-in-Law Peggy Berry, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Historic St. Peter AME Church, 1201 Cadiz St., New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation will be held again on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM officiated by the Reverend Russell A. Obee, Sr. at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, 87 Paddio Johnson Road (off Highway 1042), Greensburg, LA 70441.
