Susie Mae Jordan Day Evans, a 92-year-old native of Newton, MS, passed peacefully at her residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was a retired cook, tailor, homemaker, and a deaconess at Beech Grove Baptist Church of Jackson Louisiana. Survived by Gwendolyn Ruth (Gordon) Taylor, Eugene Kelvin Evans III, Gloria Helen (Rev. John L) Bowman, Ella Sue Evans, Cathy Yvonne White, Ricky Alvin Evans, Tommie Lee (Thelma) Evans, and Barbara Ann (Ray) Cook; 27 grandchildren, 57 ½ great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, a host of foster and adopted children, one sister-in-law Minnie Ruth Porter and a host of nieces, nephews, church & extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1st SGT Eugene Evans Jr. Four children, Diane, Robert, Jennifer and Jerome Evans; one grandson Sedrick Evans, her parents, Lula and Grandville Jordan and all 17 of her siblings. Public Viewing Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Beech Grove Baptist Church, 890 Hwy 68, Jackson LA 70748. A Private Service will be Thursday August 26, 2021 at 10:00am. Rev. Ottis Bowman, Officiating.
