Quentin Lloyd Henry
On July 11, 1965, a precious baby boy was born to James and Betty Henry, whom they named Quentin Lloyd Henry. Quentin was reared in a loving and nurturing family. This baby was special because he was Betty's parents' first grandson.
Quentin began his formal education in the St. Helena Parish School System where his mom was recognized as a phenomenal teacher. He attended Greensburg Elementary and St. Helena Elementary schools before transferring to Southern University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, La.
While attending Southern Lab, Quentin was not only a scholar. He played football for the beloved Kittens. He helped the Kittens win several championships of which he was very proud. Quentin, class president during his senior year, graduated with honors in the class of 1983.
Quentin continued his education by attending The Southern University A and M College. While at Southern, Quentin did not play football but remained a lifelong fan of the Jaguars. He majored in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduating in December of 1987, Quentin began working for The Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas. After a few years he transferred to Huntsville, Alabama. While living in Alabama, Quentin began his graduate studies at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. With a desire to be closer to his parents, Quentin was allowed to transfer to Houston, Texas. With diligent work ethics, Quentin became Sr. Engineer at Boeing in Defense, Space and Security. His job assignment engaged business adventures in China, Japan and Africa.
Quentin was a quiet, soft spoken man who loved music of all genres and sports of all kinds. He was a Lifetime member of the Southern University Alumni Association. He supported the Jaguar football team with his season book tickets every year and followed the jaguars wherever they played. Jazz fest and The Essence festival were yearly trips. Quentin was the biggest Pittsburg Steelers fan ever! Tennis was another sport that he followed closely. He travelled to the Wimbledon Championship in London to watch Serena and Venus Williams matches. This was his 50th birthday gift to himself. Quentin supported multiple philanthropic causes including the National Museum of African American History and Culture, National Museum of the American Indian, various museums in the Houston area, UNCF, Southern University Lab School, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association, just to name a few .
