David Lee Moore departed this life on Thursday, April 21, 2023. He was the fourth (4th) son
born to the union of Mary and John Moore. David accepted Christ at an early age at Little
Rock Baptist Church in Slaughter, LA and was baptized by Rev. Isaiah Mitchell. He later
moved to Rollins Road Assembly (later named Church of the Burning Fire), under the
leadership of the late Pastor Ernest G. Morris where he served as an Elder, and Praise and
Worship leader. He later joined Magnolia Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of
Pastor Milton Coats where he served as a minister.
A native of Zachary, he was a 1973 graduate of Zachary High School. He attended
Northwestern High School and played in the band and he also played football and basketball.
Upon graduation from Zachary High he attended Southern University, where he studied
computer science and played the trumpet in the SU marching band; (The Human Jukebox).
David was a true witness of Christ! He loved to study, pray, teach, and preach God’s word!
He loved his family dearly; his prayer was that they would all accept Jesus Christ as their
personal Lord and Savior.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife: Anita Bonds Moore, who he was married to
for 31 wonderful years. Together they had two children: Travis Lee Moore and the late Tesha
Danielle Moore.
He is survived by his devoted wife: Anita Bonds Moore; one daughter: Jamesia Moore of
Douglasville, GA; four sons: Jarman Moore of Douglasville, GA; David L. Moore, Jr. of
Douglasville, GA (Debra); Christopher Tate of Fresno, CA; and Travis Lee Moore of
Dutchtown, LA (fiancée, Taylor Collins); six grandchildren: Kailee Moore of Douglasville, GA;
LeAsia Johnson of Sandy Springs, GA; Tiara Moore of Atlanta, GA; L. Jayden Johnson of
Douglasville, GA; David L. Moore, III and Abby Moore of Douglasville, GA; three great grandchildren: Ehren Moore, Robert Thomas and Trystan Thomas of Douglasville, GA; two
sisters: Sylvia Moore of Baton Rouge, LA, and Dana Moore of Atlanta, GA; special niece,
Wanda Moore Whitfield of Zachary, LA; Mother and Father-in-Law: Minister Rosemary and
Alexander Twine of Prairieville, LA; one sister-in-law: Jeannie Wright of Prairieville, LA; two
brothers-in-law: Julius Michael (Michelle) Bonds of Prairieville, LA and Jeffrey (Chanel) Bonds
of Baton Rouge, LA; four God children: Tyler Moore of Atlanta, GA; Jasmine Haynes of
Zachary, LA; Kayla Raymond and Olivia Raymond of Zachary, LA; and a host of nieces,
nephews, relatives and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Mary and John Moore; grandparents: Hosea and
Louisa Thornton; his youngest daughter: Tesha Danielle Moore; one sister: Wardean Moore;
three brothers: Foster Moore, Joseph Moore, and Larry Moore; two nephews: Terry “Turk”
Moore and Kelvin Moore.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023 9 am until Celebration of Life 10 am. Service will be held at Magnolia Full Gospel Baptist Church, 7910 US Hwy 61 N. St. Francisville, LA. 70775. Pastor Milton Coats, Officiant. Interment: Cann Cemetery, 15575 Airline Highway Baton Rouge, LA. 70817.
