Melvin Edward Brown, 81, a resident of Walker, departed this life Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at his home with his family at his bedside. He was a retired US Army Reserve Lt. Colonel, a graduate of Southern University A & M Baton Rouge, an educator, principal and supervisor in the Livingston parish school system for over 40 years among many other accomplishments. Visitation at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, 7803 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs from 2 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, Nov. 5. with family visitation from 4 pm to 8 pm. Religious service at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church, 13590 Dunn St., Walker at 11 am Friday. Conducted by Rev. Edgar L. Thomas. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Dorothy Johnson Brown, three daughters, Tammy B. Payton (Arthur), Charmagne B. Scott (Michael) and Lisa B. Harris (Joseph); four granddaughters, Autumn, Farrah, Addeley and Ashley; a devoted nephew, Eddie C. Goldmond; two brothers, six sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.
