Missionary Mae Ella Jackson West

November 10, 1932 — January 23, 2025

Missionary Mae Ella Jackson West, a native of Greensburg (Jack), La and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, La, passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on November 10, 1932, to the late Alton Jackson and Myrtle Washington Jackson. 

Mae Ella was married to Prophet Benjamin Waldon West and in their union they had 3 beautiful kids. They also founded the Zion City Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in which she committed her life as a Missionary and Mother until the very end. Mae Ella retired from Baton Rouge General Daycare Center in December 1997. 

Mae Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Myrtle Jackson; her beloved husband, Bishop Benjamin W. West and her daughter, Felecia “Lynn” Lynette West.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her children Theartis “Terrell” West and Melita “Missy” West Hatch; cherished grandchildren Megan Briann Sawyer (Xavier); and Brandon Markell Hatch; Also survived by her sister, Inez Jackson; sister-in-law, Thelma Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Saintsville COGIC, 8930 Plank Rd., Baton Rouge, La at 8 am until religious service at 11 am. Superintendent Eric Clayton will be officiating the service. Interment will be in Jackson Chapel Cemetery, Greensburg, La.
