Lloyd Rutherford Hinton, Sr. was born on July 7, 1943 to Willard and Dorothy Hinton in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Lloyd was raised in Loranger, LA and attended Greenwood Park High School where he received his high school diploma. He furthered his education and training through area trade schools with a career interest in air conditioning and refrigeration. Lloyd served his family, church, and community faithfully and is remembered as a person of honesty, integrity, and dedication. In early years, he worked alongside his brothers on the family farm milking cows, riding horses, planting and tending vegetable gardens and farm animals. During his military stay, Lloyd earned the rank of Sergeant serving as a Power Plant Operator and Mechanic during the Vietnam and Korean conflicts. As early as 1972, he made a lasting mark in the greater Baton Rouge and surrounding communities as founder and owner of multiple successful businesses. His legacy as a business entrepreneur will last well beyond his 50 years of service. In later years, he would daily keep in touch with his children, brothers, family, and friends. His legacy continues through his sons Lloyd Hinton, Jr, Kenric Hinton; daughters Katrina Davis, Dionne Hinton; grandchildren Kaelyn Hinton, Lauryn Hinton, Mark Hinton; cherished godchild Karen Williams; and much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Lloyd Hinton, Sr., the first born, is survived by three brothers Franklin Hinton, Sr. (Debra), Lionel Hinton, Ronald Hinton (Pearl); sister-in-law Ethel Hinton; and his first wife Illinois Hinton. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Willard Hinton; his dear brother Willard S. Hinton, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Vann and Pheriba Hinton; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Iola Murray; and very dear uncles, aunts, niece (1), cousins, and friends. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Greater Greene Chapel A.M.E., 1232 N. 32nd St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Interment Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary, LA.
