“Holy Baby” as Juanita Grant was affectionately known by close family members, earned her pet name at the tender age of three years when she was cared for by her spiritual father and mother, Henry and Wilma Landry.

She was born to the parents of William Grant and Alfreda Jackson Grant Raymond. She received Christ at three years of age under the direction of Elder Phillip Rheams, Church of God in Christ, Denham Springs, La.

Juanita was educated in Baton Rouge, La. She was a graduate of Capital High School and Southern University, Baton Rouge, La. She did further study at Brigham Young University, Laie, Hawaii and Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan. In addition to serving as an English Teacher here in the United States and Overseas on the Island of Okinawa, Japan, Juanita was also a published author of Christian literature.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Alicia Matthews, Bridgette M. Duckworth, grandchild, Brinita Manning, great-grandchild, Blayklee Manning, sister, Catherine Grant Corbin, brother, Winfred Grant and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her father, William Grant, mother, Alfreda Grant Raymond, sister, Caroline Faye Grant Powell, brothers, Robert(“Bobby”) Grant and Michael Grant.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
