John Black

John Henry Black, was born on April 17, 1943 in Leesville, LA to the late Jessie "Maxine" Ashford Shannon and Johnnie Black. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in Texas City, TX following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband to Sarah Black and dedicated father to Sharon Ellis, Delphine Gassoway Whipple, Yvette Counts, Tonya Wilson, Doreen Black, Keeta, Adrain Hill, Ursula Jones and Samantha Parker; and devoted brother to Shirley Williams, Delise Tinsley Johnson, Ezra Shannon, David Shannon, Herman Shannon, Sherman Shannon, George Shannon and Berta Foster. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lizette Scott. Visiting will be held at MJR Friendly Services Funeral Home 7803 Florida, Blvd, Denham Springs, LA on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 6-8pm with funeral services held at Cedar Grove Temple C.O.G.I.C. 19984 Pride-Baywood, Road, Baywood, LA on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 12:00pm. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
