On May 25, 2013 Sister Grace Jiles Griffin transitioned from her earthly home life to her heavenly home. She accepted her heavenly Father's home for which she had worked so long.
Grace was born August 3, 1932 in Greensburg, LA, to the late May Dee Johnson Jiles and George Jiles. She received her formal education in St. Helena Parish. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Rocky Hill A.M.E. Church of Greensburg, LA for many years. She rendered many services to the Lord such as a member of the Women's Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, Usher Board, Gospel & Senior Choir member and a Sunday School member. She was employed with LA Hatchet in Hammond, LA and Carlos Oyster House in Amite, LA for several years.
Grace leaves to celebrate her memory, children: daughter, Beverly Griffin, seven sons, Darrell Wayne (Monica), Bryan (Lysa), Rogers (Germaine) Griffin Greensburg, LA, and Donald Ray Giles of Greensburg, LA, George Lee Griffin Jr. (Curtistine) Hammond, LA, Earl (Josephine) Giles of Ponchatoula, LA, Larry Giles of River Ridge, LA, and an ex-daughter in-law Wanda Giles of Reserve, LA. Two sisters: Ceola (A.C) Taylor of Greensburg, LA, Albertha Butler of Houston Texas. Two brothers: Roddy George (Juliette) Jiles of New Orleans, LA, Dewitt (Linda) Jiles of Hammond, LA, Seven sister-in-laws: Joyce (Walter) Haywood and Ola Mae Bridges of Greensburg, LA, Betty (Earl) Barnes of New Orleans, LA, Irma Griffin, Bernice (Wayne) Matthews, Patricia (Teddy) Coleman and Betty Henry of Baton Rouge, LA, Five brother-in-laws: Collis (Betty) Griffin of Moscow, Texas, Charles (Joyce), James (Carolyn), Mark (Antwyla) and Harrison Henry of Greensburg, LA, A devoted cousin Lena Mae Amacker of Greensburg, LA. A special friend Alice Givens of Ponchatoula, LA. Thirty grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband George Lee Griffin, Sr. mother, May Dee Johnson Jiles, father George Jiles, a son Gerry Lee Griffin mother in-law and father in-law, Ora Lee Hitchen Griffin & John Griffin.
